EPISODE #880

February 16, 2009 (Monday)

1. CASEY’S APARTMENT

A frustrated CASEY rushes over to the front door and opens it finding his ex, CURT.

                   CASEY

What are you doing here?

          CURT

I think that’s pretty obvious.

          CASEY

I never wanted to see you again.

          CURT

I don’t believe that.

          CASEY

I really don’t give a damn what you believe, Curt.  I moved across country to get away from you.  Why did you follow me here?

          CURT

Because I missed you.  Let me in.

          CASEY

Are you kidding me?  You’re not stepping foot in my apartment.  And I’m going to talk to my super about building security.

          CURT

I would never hurt you, Case.

          CASEY

Can you honestly stand there and say that with a straight face?  You’re really delusional, do you know that?

          CURT

Sure, we’ve had our ups and downs, but we can work it out.

          CASEY

Ups and downs?  You need help, Curt.  Professional help.  Go home to L.A. and find a therapist.

          CURT

I don’t need a therapist.  I just need you to come back to me.

          CASEY

That is never going to happen.  I’m disgusted with myself for ever dating you in the first place.

          CURT

Don’t say that.

          CASEY

It’s not going to work this time, you know.

          CURT

What are you talking about?

          CASEY

Every time I’ve tried to get away from you, you track me down and lay it on real thick, making it seem like you’re not such a bad guy.  But I’m not falling for it this time.  Just go before we have a very ugly scene here.

          CURT

I’m not going to leave New York until we’ve talked things out.

          CASEY

Well, I can’t make you leave town, but I can certainly make sure you are nowhere near me.  I’ll get a restraining order against you if I have to.

          CURT

You wouldn’t do that.

          CASEY

Don’t try me, Curt.  Or you’ll be sorry.

Casey slams the door in his face and then locks the door and the deadbolt.

2. MACK’S APARTMENT

ANGIE is sitting on the sofa when MACK arrives home.

                   ANGIE

Mack, you’re home early.

MACK

You’re still here.

          ANGIE

You told me to make myself at home.

          MACK

I guess I did.

          ANGIE

Did you get things straightened out with your friend?

          MACK

You mean Sam?

          ANGIE

Yes.  I read that story in the paper again.  How scandalous!

          MACK

It turned out to be even more shocking that I thought.

          ANGIE

Oh really?  What did he say?

          MACK

That’s really what this is all about for you, isn’t it?

          ANGIE

What do you mean?

          MACK

Finding out answers about Sam.  This entire relationship has been about you getting some type of revenge on him.  Sam told me everything.

3. CHANNEL 6 STUDIO

RICK is at the anchor desk live on the 6 o’clock news.

                   RICK

And finally tonight, Channel 6 has received dozens of calls from concerned viewers following a report published in the New York Herald about our station manager, Sam Zegas (zay-gus).  The story included quotes from a teenage girl who claims she was brought into Zegas’s apartment and engaged in some pretty outlandish sexual encounters that we will not recount on air.  But the station wants you, our viewers, to know that we are not taking this matter lightly.  As of this evening, Zegas has been suspended from his duties as station manager pending an investigation into the matter.  We won’t have any further comment on the story until that investigation has completed.  That will do it for the 6 o’clock news this evening.  I’ll be back at 11 tonight with an update on the murder in Central Park story as well as President Obama’s latest comments on the economy.  This is Rick Swanson and from the entire Channel 6 news team, have a good evening.
