EPISODE #878
February 9, 2009 (Monday)
1. REX’S OFFICE AT
REX and PERRY are looking at
the morning paper when BOBBY walks in.
BOBBY
Hey guys, what’s up?
REX
We were just discussing the scandal at Channel 6.
BOBBY
What scandal?
PERRY
Rex’s
college buddy, Sam, the station manager was apparently involved in some sexscapade with a sixteen year old.
BOBBY
Sam
Zegas? Are you
kidding me?
REX
Nope. I don’t even know what to think. I tried to call Sam but his voice mail was
full.
BOBBY
I
knew what guy was a creep from day one.
PERRY
Oh
yeah, I vaguely remember you telling us that you thought Sam had a thing for
your girlfriend.
BOBBY
I
know did. And probably still does.
REX
Sam
was really close to Mack and me when we were in college. But his life has been a mystery to me for
quite some time.
BOBBY
I
wonder if Stacey knows about this.
REX
If
she’s anywhere near Channel 6 today, I’m sure she does.
2. SAM’S OFFICE AT CHANNEL 6
SAM is sitting at his desk
when STACEY rushes in.
STACEY
Sam,
I’m sorry I’m late. My mother insisted
on me having breakfast at home today.
SAM
(totally out of it)
Not
a problem.
STACEY
Is
something the matter? You look like your
dog just died?
SAM
You
honestly don’t know?
STACEY
No. Tell me.
SAM
Read
it and weep.
Sam hands Stacey his copy of
the morning paper.
STACEY
(reading)
“Channel
6 Sex Scandal.
Station manager, Sam Zegas (zay-gus) involved in kinky sex with minor.” Oh my God.
Sam, is this true?
SAM
For the most part, yes.
STACEY
I’m
not sure what to say.
SAM
Just
let me say that the girl in this story told me she was older. I had no idea she was under eighteen. I wouldn’t do that.
STACEY
“Sam
Zegas, station manager at Channel 6, lured the young
sixteen year old girl to his apartment where he has a secret sex room set up.”
SAM
Stacey,
sometimes people have secrets, dark secrets that they don’t want anyone to know
about.
STACEY
I’m
confused. A sex room?
SAM
I
have a problem. A very serious problem
and I’ve been getting help for it.
STACEY
What
kind of problem?
SAM
I’m
a…. a…. a sex addict.
Just then Mack bursts into
the office.
MACK
A sex addict?
Sam? Who the hell are you?
SAM
Mack,
I was just in the middle of explaining things to Stacey. Can we talk in a bit?
MACK
I’m
not sure we can. What is going on with
you? I just received a phone call from
your Dad? He tried calling you at work
and on your cell but both voice mails are full.
I didn’t know what to say to him.
SAM
I
just can’t deal with my parents right now.
MACK
You’re front page news today, Sam. You’re going to deal with a lot more than
your parents. You know how this town
works. This story isn’t going to go
away.
