Love
'em and Leave 'em:
|
| You know
the type. The guy you fantasized about
in high school, but didn't know you
existed. The girl you spent weeks working
up the courage to ask out, only for
her to laugh in your face. Yes, I'm
talking about those heartless cads and
maneaters. They go through romantic
partners like some people go through
coffee filters and yet, they are never
satisfied. It's always on to the next
victim... er, I mean, lover. Below,
you'll find some of our best examples
of the love 'em and leave 'em types.
Let's all be glad we didn't go to high
school with them. |
Heather
Gibbons
(Coral
Valley)
|
|
Heather Gibbons came onto the
Coral Valley canvas wanting
two things--power and prestige.
She was a woman who knew what
she wanted and didn't give a
damn who she had to step on
to get there. For Heather life
is about obtaining your goals
and when she decided she wanted
to be a

Hollywood Diva nothing
would thwart her quest to be the best...not even an
engagement to Brant Ashford, one of Coral Valley's most
eligible bachelors. Even though Brant had money, influence
and power, it wasn't enough for Heather when she found
herself in the arms of a Hollywood producer at a party
Brant was hosting no less!!! Not only did Brant give
Heather the boot for her actions, but she didn't get
the part she'd been auditioning for either. Still Heather
would not be thwarted from her mission to have everything
she felt she deserved.
Upon Brant's dismissal
of her, Heather vowed to get him back into her life--proving
to him that she was in fact the woman he was destined
to be with, but Brant would not hear of it. He'd moved
on focusing his interests in Avery Morrison, who soon
became the woman at the top of Heather’s hit list.
Using Avery’s ex-lover Russell Denton as a key
in her plan to win Brant back, Heather attempted to
seduce him, to charm him with her beauty and powers
of persuasion, but their partnership flopped when Heather
returned her focus to seducing Kipp Mahoney--playboy
son of hot shot movie producer Douglas Mahoney.
Heather was certain that
Kipp would be the key to her success in Hollywood, but
ultimately Kipp’s father saw right through Heather’s
gold digging ways realizing that Heather didn't love
his son despite Kipp’s blind adoration of the
heartless bitch. Despite Kipp’s obvious feelings
for Heather, she'd used him to get ahead in her career
and furthermore to try to work up a story where she
could land Brant back in her life again--by claiming
to be pregnant with Brant’s son. However, her
plan failed when Brooke Morrison and Douglas took matters
into their own hands staging a scene where Heather wound
up in bed with Russell Denton. That night any hope Heather
had for a future with Kipp ended when he wound up in
the ER after having seemingly shot himself in the chest.
Still not to be deterred Heather tried to reach out
to Kipp, but Douglas warned her to stay far away from
his son, along with promising her that she would never,
ever become the starlet she'd dreamt about.
Still, while Heather was
down, she wasn't out. Much to her dismay she discovered
that when Brant, Kipp and even Russ wouldn't talk to
her, she still held some power. She discovered that
she was pregnant with Kipp’s child and used it
to her advantage to enter into a partnership and a marriage
with Cameron Stone--the most powerful (evil) man in
Coral Valley. These two formed an unholy alliance aimed
at taking Douglas and those who challenged

down, but when the marriage got a bit rocky Heather turned
to sexy psychiatrist Diego Hernandez in the hopes of persuading
him to give into temptation with her. Ever the moral man,
Diego hasn't taken the plunge to give in completely to
Heather’s advances, but there is no mistaking the
interest is there. Still, given the situation Heather
has put herself into with Cameron and all the other men
in her life, one has to wonder if Heather could ever truly
be content with finding happily ever after. Sure, love
is sweet, but for Heather power and having it all means
so much more…even if it means breaking a few dozen
hearts in the process.

Melodi
Dixon (Behind Closed Doors)
|
|
|
With
her penchant for older, married men, Mel quickly
earned herself quite the reputation around the
JLN building, something she shrugged off as pure
jealousy. Having always been attracted to the
number of zeros in a man's bank account, perhaps
even more than the man himself, she quickly set
her sights on married producer Dan Marshall. Many
found the relationship disgusting and tried to
talk some sense into Mel, but she refused to listen
to reason. She had a wicked case of tunnel vision.
She could only see what she wanted - and that
was a man with some money.
Within
a month of their meeting, Dan had left his wife
and moved in with Mel. For a year, they lived
together, until Dan's sudden death in the fall
of 1986. Mel didn't surprise anyone with how quickly
she was willing to move on. Within the year, she'd
set her sights on someone else - Kyle, a JLN executive.
When that romance fizzled, Mel set her sights
on straight-laced Frankie Wright, only to be rebuffed.
She wasn't his type, he said.
Outraged
(Mel was not used to rejection), she moved on
to several other executives in the building, making
sure to flaunt Frankie's face in every last affair.
She wanted him to see exactly what he was missing
out on, but he wasn't very fazed by it. He wanted
no part of her childish games and let her know
it. Frustrated, Mel was determined to find out
exactly why the one man she wanted more than anything
didn't want her and the answer was simple: her
wicked, wicked ways.
Mel
stunned everyone by proclaiming to the world that
she'd gotten religion in early 1988. Many wrote
it off as a ploy to gain Frankie's attention and,
for the most part, it was. Mel played the dutiful
Christian, in an effort to finally win him over
and it finally worked in early 1989. However,
when things didn't move fast enough for her, she
quickly dumped him. Interestingly enough, though,
she's felt something this time she'd never felt
in any previous split - remorse. Could it be that
Frankie really is her true love? Will Mel really
settle down (for real) to give this relationship
a decent chance? Stay tuned.

Andrew Jones
(Scripts & Scruples)
|
Andrew Jones, played marvelously by
Bill Hodgkins, is a cad. He knows
it, his family knows it and the long
line of broken-hearted women he’s
left behind knows it. Andrew has always
gotten by with a little help from
wealthy admirers. He simply can’t
help himself because he refuses to
work and he considers himself to be
such a great lover. He’s practically
doing community service in his own
mind.
Things didn’t go as smoothly
as he would like with his most recent
socialite conquest, Larissa Davies.
Larissa fell in love with Andrew,
like so many othersbefore her. But
this time, she was serious about it,
and proposed marriage. He agreed to
marry her expecting to bail out at
the last minute like he had always
done before. But something happened
on the way to the altar, Larissa didn’t
ask him to sign a pre-nup. Andrew
couldn’t believe how lucky he
was to be marrying this woman and
getting his hands on her fortune.
On the day of their Valentine’s
2004 wedding, Andrew didn’t
realize it but Larissa overheard a
conversation between him and Hannah
Richards, a woman he wascourting on
the side. Furious, Larissa took action.
She tried to kill Andrew, but instead
stabbed Turner Dean, who later died.
This wasn’t revealed until months
later on the witness stand, and by
then Andrew had married a now pregnant
Larissa.
The cad, and oh so bad, Andrew suffered
another blow last summer - a blow
to the head that lead to him having
temporary amnesia. He actually became
a hard-working, real friend during
this time and fell in love with Connie
Richards, a family enemy. Today, Andrew’s
memory has returned, he has a newborn
son, is going through a bitter divorce
from Larissa and is trying to win
Connie’s heart. Will he be able
to juggle all these things? And how
quickly will he move on to his next
wealthy conquest? He’s low on
cash so it may not be too long.
